Artists
Nabeel Abboud Ashkar: was born in Nazareth in 1978, and has studied violin since he was 8. He has degrees in music and physics from Tel Aviv University and a masters degree from Rostock, Germany, studying with Axel Wilczok. He is a member of the West-Eastern Divan orchestra, and a founder member of the Barenboim-Said Orpheus Conservatory in Nazareth where he heads the Violin Department. He has performed as soloist in Israel and Jordan.
Karim Said: was born in 1988 in Jordan, and started playing piano at age 5. He studied at the Purcell School of Music, and is now at London’s Royal Academy of Music. He has won major international prizes, and has played in major international venues. He has worked with Daniel Barenboim and his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and was soloist with them in a Prom Concert in 2009. He also played with Sir Colin Davis and the English Chamber Orchestra at the Barbican in 2009.
Firas Machour & Mira Abu el Assal are advanced students at the Barenboim-Said Conservatory in Nazareth.
Charlotte Bonneton: was born in 1987, and studied violin in Grenoble and Paris. Since 2004 she has been at London’s Royal Academy of Music studying with Gyorgy Pauk and Matthew Souter and winning numerous prizes. She has performed in many important venues in France, and is supported by the Accenture young musician scheme.

Hallo Jerusalem, Capital of Arab Culture 2009
A night of celebration at the Drum, Birmingham: 7:30 pm on 10 July 2009
The Midlands Palestinian Community Association is celebrating the choice of Jerusalem as capital of Arab Culture at 7:30 on the 10th of July in Birmingham. This evening of cultural solidarity with the future capital of Palestine will feature musicians and writers from Birmingham and Alzaytouna Nottingham Dabka Group. We hope to raise funds to support a Palestinian charity or organisation that works to maintain and enrich the Palestinian Arab identity of Jerusalem. This should be a truly memorable night.

Press Release: Ramallah Municipality and INTERTEC sign contract for Ramallah Electronic Gate
بلدية رام الله وشركة "إنترتك" توقعان اتفاقية تصميم بوابة الكترونية رام الله –
وقعت بلدية رام الله وشركة "إنترتك" لخدمات الكمبيوتر والإنترنت اتفاقية تقوم الشركة بموجبها بتصميم بوابة الكترونية شاملة لمدينة رام الله وبلديتها.
ووقع الاتفاقية عن طرف البلدية رئيستها جانيت ميخائيل، وعن جانب شركة "انترتك" مديرها العام علاء علاء الدين، بحضور عدد من مسؤولي البلدية والشركة.
ورحبت ميخائيل بتوقيع هذه الاتفاقية مع شركة "انترتك" المتخصصة في هذا المجال والتي تمتلك خبرة طويلة في تصميم المواقع الالكترونية. وأشارت إلى أن هذه البوابة الالكترونية سيتم إطلاقها الشهر القادم، منوهة إلى أن البث التجريبي للموقع قد بدأ بالفعل الشهر الماضي تحت عنوان www.ramallah.ps وأضافت " لن تكون البوابة موقعا عاديا نظرا لما ستحتويه من معلومات وزوايا حول كل ما يتعلق بمدينة رام الله وتاريخها وأيضا بالبلدية".
وأوضحت ميخائيل أن البوابة الالكترونية ستشتمل على التعريف بعائلات رام الله والمواقع الأثرية والسياحية في المدينة وكذلك المراكز الثقافية والحياة الاقتصادية فيها، كما ستشتمل على خارطة للمدينة وأرشيفا مصورا لأعلامها من الشخصيات التاريخية. وأكدت أن هذه البوابة ستكون بمثابة مشروع مهم للبلدية، كونه سيعكس الوجه الحضاري لمدينة رام الله والذي اكتسبته على مدار سنين طويلة، فهي حاضنة الشعب الفلسطيني كونها تحتضن أبنائه من مختلف المدن والمحافظات الأخرى.
وستتضمن البوابة الالكترونية قسما خاصا ببلدية رام الله، يضم بين جنباته، هيكلية البلدية وخدماتها ومشاريعها.
وأشارت ميخائيل إلى أن البوابة تعتمد حاليا وبشكل مبدئي اللغة العربية، وسيتم إضافة اللغة الانجليزية مطلع الشهر المقبل، واستخدام لغات أخرى في مراحل لاحقة، وذلك حتى يتسنى للناطقين بهذه اللغات الاستفادة من البوابة.
من جهته، أعرب علاء علاء الدين عن شكره لبلدية رام الله على اختيارها شركة "انترتك" لتنفيذ وتصميم هذه البوابة الالكترونية، وأكد أن وقوع هذا الاختيار على شركته إنما يعكس الثقة والخبرة التي تتمتع بهما "انترتك"، من جهة، ويزيد من حجم المسؤولية على الشركة لمواصلة تميزها في هذا المضمار.
يذكر أن شركة "انترتك" تأسست في العام1999 في مدينة رام الله لتكون من أولى الشركات العاملة في تصميم المواقع الالكترونية في فلسطين وقد تميزت الشركة بمهنيتها وإدخالها ومواكبتها لأحدث البرامج والمنتجات العالمية في مجال عملها

Mayor of Ramallah makes historic visit to Birmingham
Her Excellency Janet Michael, Mayor of Ramallah, Palestine made a historic visit to Birmingham on the 6th and 7th of March. Her visit included meetings with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Mike Sharpe, the Mayor of Walsall and representatives of trade unions in the region. She spoke at assembly to sixth formers at King's Norton Boys School, which is planning to develop links with a school in Ramallah. She appeared on Unity FM, a local community radio station, spoke to BBC Radio WM and her visit was reported in the Birmingham Evening Mail.
Mrs Michael, visited Responding to Conflict and Woodbrooke, both of which have strong links with Ramallah and met members of the Kashmiri and other communities. She marked International Women's day with a speech in the Birmingham City Council Chamber before leaving for Oxford and London.
Mrs Michael's successful visit has helped raise the profile of Ramallah and the Twinning Initiatvie (BRTI) and to boost the efforts of the many people working to develop links between the citizens of the two cities. Her Excellency extended an invitation to the Lord Mayor and the Mayor of Walsall to visit Ramallah, which they both promised to consider.
Mrs Michael commenced her visit to the UK with a meeting in Parliament with Birmingham MPs Richard Burden and Lynn Jones, Homorary Presidents of the BRTI. She also was a special guest of a 'Meeting in London' which was shown on Al-Hiwar Satellite Television on the 10th of March.
Mrs Michael was made extremely welcome in Bi rmingham and we look forward to the development of many links between Birmingham and Ramallah.

قامت سعادة جانيت ميخائيل رئيسة بلدية رام الله بزيارة موفقة لمدينة بيرمنغام يومي السادس والسابع من مارس عام 2007. التقت خلال هذه الزيارة بعضوي برلمان عن مدينة بيرمنغهام لين جونز وريتشارد بيردن و رئيس بلدية بيرمنغهام مايك شارب و رئيسة بلديت والسول. كما زارت السيدة جانيت مدرسة كينغز نورتون للذكور التي تنوي إقامة علاقة صداقة مع مدرسة في رام الله.وقابلت مجموعة من النقابيين وممثلي بعض جاليات بيرمنغهام. كما كان لها لقائات مع الإعلام المحلي من إذاعة وتلفزيون وصحافة. وكانت السيدة جانيت قد إبتدأت زيارتها لبريطانيا ضيفة مميزة على برنامج لقاء قي لندن بتلفزيون الحوار. واستقبلت السيدة جانيت بحفاوة بالغة في جميع لقائاتها و دعمت زيارتها جهود القائمين على مبادرة التوأمة والمتضامنين مع الشعب الفلسطيني.
